Coffee - A common source of caffeine

There is one of other type of thing we put in our bodies aside from food and drink: drugs. These are chemicals which are often for medical use. Certain drugs, such as caffeine and alcohol, are often taken at someone's own discretion for no particular medical purpose.

Caffeine is the most widely used drug in the world. It is considered safe to use in moderation, which is about 300mg per day, or about 3 cups of coffee. It is a stimulant, increasing heart rate, and constricting blood vessels. It is also a diuretic. Caffeine is found in coffee, tea, and many soft drinks.

Nicotine is found in cigarettes, cigars, chewing tobacco. It is very addictive, and continued use can lead to lung cancer and mouth cancer. Don't smoke!

Alcohol is found in beer, wine, and many varieties of liquor. In moderation it's considered safe, and even beneficial. A moderate amount of alcohol is one to two drinks a day. Pregnant women should not drink, even in moderation.
